What the Symbility® XML file is for
Symbility® is claims estimating software from CoreLogic. An adjuster building an estimate in Symbility® needs roof dimensions in the sketch, not just in a document off to the side. A roof measurement report delivered as XML is built to be read by that sketch import, so facet area, pitch, and roof line lengths land in the estimate without retyping them from a PDF.
This is distinct from the ESX format used by Xactimate®. Both formats can describe the same roof; the file just has to match the estimating platform doing the import.

Generic import workflow
The exact click path changes across Symbility® releases, so treat the following as the shape of the workflow rather than a literal script. Confirm the current steps in your version's help documentation before you rely on them against a deadline.
- Open or create the claim estimate
Start the estimate for the claim the roof belongs to, or open the existing one if the roof is being added to a claim already in progress.
- Locate the sketch import option
Find the import function inside the sketch or roof module, typically reached via the Sketch import option. Menus vary by version; verify in your build.
- Select the XML file
Point the import to the delivered XML file. Confirm the address and claim reference shown match the file you intended to import before continuing.
- Map facets into the sketch
Let the import place facets, pitches, and roof lines into the sketch, then compare the facet count and total squares against what the report summary states.
- Save and review line items
Save the sketch and confirm the roof line items in the estimate reflect the imported measurements before pricing the claim.
Version caveat: why there's no exact click path here
Symbility® updates dialogs, button labels, and menu locations across releases. The underlying sequence, open the sketch import, select the file, map the facets, review the result, holds up across versions, but where each step lives in the interface does not. Check your version's official help documentation before an import on a time-sensitive file, and do not assume a screenshot from an older release still matches your build.
Ordering the XML: sponsor page as a worked example
Reports are ordered by property address, not by site visit. The site sponsor, Sketch My Roof roof measurement reports, publishes an XML format for Symbility® alongside its ESX formats for Xactimate® and its PDF format for the file. After import: verify before you finalize the estimate
- Total squares match the footprint you expect
A mismatch usually means the wrong structure or an address that resolved to the wrong parcel.
- Facet count matches the visible roof planes
A facet that got merged or missed on import will understate area or ridge and valley length.
- Pitch per facet, not just an average
Cut-up roofs often carry more than one pitch on the same structure; waste and material factors depend on getting each facet right.
- Claim number and address on the imported file
Confirms the file in the estimate is the one ordered for this claim before it goes into the file.
